APRIL IN PARIS

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This photo is typical of my stay in April. :( After the hot weather in March which I wasn't prepared for, rain and cold, which I wasn't prepared for either (non plus)! I didn't have my winter coat (manteau) and I was cold. I took this photo from inside a bus.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         :(

This is the queue in front of Orsay museum; I climbed on a wall (grimpé sur un mur) to try and photograph the umbrellas (parapluies) from the top. Fortunately (heureusement) I had a ticket so I didn't have to queue, I don't know how the people have the patience, especially in the rain.

LIFE - la vie

“Life isn't how to survive the storm, it's about how to dance in the rain.” ― Taylor Swift.
Do you agree? (Etes-vous d'accord?) I read this quote in somebody's profile on redbubble. I have a photo to illustrate it:

WIND AND HORIZONTAL RAIN

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The first storm (tempête) of winter and the winds are 135kms tonight. The noise is terrible inside the house, I'm going to have to (je vais devoir) sleep with ear plugs (boules Quiès).

WIND AND RAIN - vent et pluie

<Digimax i6 PMP, Samsung #11 PMP>

I don't believe it! July 18th and it's absolutely pouring (il peut à verse) and the wind is very strong. The noise (le bruit) is amazing (étonnant): the wind in the trees and the rain on the roof (toit) of the house! It's supposed to be summer! I can hear waterfalls (cascades) running over the gutter (gouttière) onto the terrace because it can't cope ( ne peut pas fournir) with the quantity of water.
At the moment it's dark (il fait nuit) so I can't see a thing - What am I going to find in the morning? A lake on my lawn?

NOVEMBER

Rain, rain, rain; wind,wind,wind! I can't say anything, that was the weather forecast (le bulletin météo).

This is a kaki tree, the leaves usually go red, but this year they won't have time. The fruit stays on the tree when the leaves fall and it looks like (ressemble) a living Christmas tree with big orange balls, it's beautiful. That is if the birds don't eat the fruit. The starlings (les étourneaux) and the blackbirds (les merles) love them.

When the rain and wind stopped for a few (quelques) minutes I took some good photos of rain drops.

AUTUMN ALREADY? Déjà l'automne?

Autumn already? No! Well, look at this photo:

<Digimax i6 PMP, Samsung #11 PMP>

These are hawthorn berries (des baies d'aubépine) already brilliant red. They're food (de la nourriture) for the birds in winter, but hey! it's not winter yet! (pas encore) Where did summer go?
It's very dry (sec) here in Charente Maritime, France, we haven't had any rain for months, apart from (hormis) a shower or two. Proof: my husband takes note every time he mows the lawn (tond la pelouse) and for the last ten years the eleventh time in the year (la onzième fois de l'année) was always in May. This year it was today August 20th!
Conclusions?
It hasn't been hot (il n'a pas fait chaud), only a few days up to 30°. A strange summer.
Well at least it's better than in the south of England where it's been raining all the time (tout le temps). But, they have beautiful gardens there, flowers and vegetables... You can't have everything. (On ne peut pas tout avoir).

AFTER THE RAIN

The weather forecast (les prévisions météo) were right, this morning it rained. Not a lot unfortunately, not enough (pas assez) to water the plants, just enough to leave drops every where.
<Digimax i6 PMP, Samsung #11 PMP>
The convolvulus had time to turn its head down.

<Digimax i6 PMP, Samsung #11 PMP>
And the tall feathery fennel (fenouil) was covered with drops.
The rain didn't last long (n'a pas duré longtemps), the sun came out and dried (a sèché) all the drops - no more photos.

SPRING RAIN

At the moment we're having showers (des averses), in fact the weather is more like April than June. Today they were thunder (orageuses) showers and it rained a lot. When the sun came out again I went out to take some photos of rain drops; sometimes they are beautiful.

<Digimax i6 PMP, Samsung #11 PMP>

These rain drops are on a poppy (un coquelicot); did you know these beautiful flowers were so hairy (poilus)?!

<Digimax i6 PMP, Samsung #11 PMP>

It's cherry time, they are ripe (mûres), red and delicious, and the birds (les oiseaux) like them too! I have eaten a lot, but I have also made 5 jars of jam (pots de confiture).

RAIN

It rained today - I don't like rain, but I can take some nice photos when it stops.I went into the wood near my house and there were droplets (gouttelettes) everywhere.

The ferns have already grown high, but have not unfurled (déroulé) their leaves yet; they make curious shapes.
Les fougères sont déjà hautes mais n'ont pas encore déroulé leurs feuilles. Elles ont des formes bizarres.

These ferns in the wood can be more than 3 metres high, they are impressive, and poisoness.
Ces fougères dans les bois peuvent atteindre plus de 3 mètres de hauteur, elles sont impressionnantes.
There are still some dry ones from last year and I have just read on Internet that I can use them as mulching in my vegetable garden. Tomorrow I'm going to get some.
