Two photos from the village of Talmont, Charente Maritime,France. It is a small village famous for its romanesque church and in June/July its streets and cemetary are full of hollyhocks (roses trèmières).

MODERN ART
By carolweb on Friday, October 29 2010,
Two of the contemporary installations in the Tuileries gardens: the wooden leg growing out of the tree is surprising. But we were a bit disappointed with the FIAC this year, nothing new or surprising.
The 19th century statues are beautiful too - and the pigeons love them!

BACK FROM PARIS
By carolweb on Wednesday, October 27 2010,
It was wonderful (merveilleux) weather in Paris and my photos have lovely blue sky - reflections again.
This is the Géode at the Cité des Sciences at La Villette, a wonderful place to take photos. You can go inside THE GEODE and watch films on a giant hemispheric screen.
This is a reflection of a modern art sculpture placed in a fountain pool in the TUILERIES GARDENS, also a good place to take photos, of quite a different nature. These gardens were created by Catherine de Médicis in 1564, are full of classical statues from the 19th century, but there are some modern ones too; there are two bronzes by Paul Belmondo. this week there were 30 modern works of art in the gardens as part of the FIAC (Foire International d'Art Contemporain). Some artists placed their work in the trees or in the water.
Parisians and tourists love to walk there or sit and rest round the fountain pools. It's a large open space where you are surrounded with (entouré de) beauty.

PARIS
By carolweb on Monday, April 26 2010,
Well, I HAVE to photograph the Eiffel Tower every time I go, it's always different.
This photo is taken through the wall of the Quai Branly museum. I visited the exposition "Autres Maïtres de l'Inde"]
I was fascinated by the enormous, 3m high, clay (terre cuite) sculptures representing horses, elephants and tigers from Tamil nadu, southern India.
They were very unusual, I would love a white horse in my garden! (There was one outside in fact, in the garden of the museum).
There were also some decorated ones:
The painted pictures were unusual too and full of intricate details:
This one is painted with white paint on cloth covered with cow dung (bouse de vache!). The name of the artist is Jiva Some Mashe ]
I enjoyed this exhibition, it was nice to discover something different.
