More than one month since my last entry, but nobody has said anything (personne n'a rien dit), so probably nobody's reading it! What a pity! (quel dommage)
In the mean time (entretemps) the Christmas and New Year celebrations have passed, even an alert for the end of the world - and I'm still here (je suis encore là).
I have made two calenders, one with 12 photos of Paris in 2012 and one with 12 red photos; I'm very pleased with them.
I didn't take many photos in Paris in December, the weather wasn't very good: cold and very grey most days, no good for taking photos. Even the pigeons were cold - but they knew how to get warm (se réchauffer).
One day the Eiffel Tower completely disappeared in the mist.
I took confusing, busy photos full of incongruous details; but this is what Paris is like.

MODERN AND OLD
By carolweb on Friday, August 27 2010,
Just look at this! Can you believe it? Well it exists in Avenue Wagram not far from the Arc de Triomphe. Unbelievable. How on earth did the proprietor get planning permission to build this modern building here?
I'm not against modern buildings, on the contrary, I think France is should be more daring (plus osé) with its new projects, but here, it's shocking. I like the one on the left, I like the one on the right, but joined together it's a heresy.
Apparently they've had to put curtains (des rideaux) behind the glass, it's facing south-east I think, it must be terribly hot in there. So what's the use (quelle est l'utilité) of a glass wall if you have to close it off with curtains?

GARDENS in PARIS
By carolweb on Friday, May 28 2010,
There are many gardens and parks in Paris and when the weather is fine the gardens are full: people walking, running, sitting, reading, talking, sunbathing, playing....
This is the garden at the Sénat; there are tables here, not just chairs, because there is a chess board (un jeu d'échecs) drawn on the table. The men under these beautiful, purple pologna trees are playing chess.
The fountains have great success, everybody sits round them.
This fountain is in the gardens of the Palais Royal and just next to them is the square with the columns of Buren.
Strange, but beautiful. people climb (grimpent) on them, sit on them, and everybody takes photos of them.

BACK TO PARIS
By carolweb on Sunday, May 2 2010,
When I'm walking in the streets in Paris I look at the details - it's difficult because everything is so big and high. I notice particularly the reflections in all the glass: windows, cars.. Here is one of my favourites in a very clean and shiny black car bonnet:
From cars to transport, what do you think about this one?
Seen in the Toyota Champs Elysées showroom it is the new city transport concept. Very futuristic, but I don't know if it's very practical.
Back to reflections, in a building this time:
In this very modern glass building you can see the old building on the opposite side of the road. I like this one.
