Japan is in the news, the bad news: earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster! The coast of north-east Japan doesn't exist anymore.
I bought a wonderful (merveilleux) book about Tokyo 2 weeks ago and thanks to the drawings (les dessins) in this book, I feel as if I (j'ai l'impression de) know the place. The author/illustrator's name is Florent Chavouet.
He can draw maps:

streets:

rooms:

and people - anything and eveything in fact from an insect to a whole street plan of Tokyo!

His book is amazing. I love the way he draws from above, his colours, his realism, his minute details. The book's title is Tokyo Sanpo, editor Philippe Picquier and it has 206 pages of drawings done during a 6 month stay there. He includes commentaries, explanations, humour.
Personnally I can't draw and I've always wanted to. I envy and admire so much people who who can. For me this book is amazing (étonnant).
