These are the two photos I've put in the CHALLENGE for something beginning with C.
The caterpillar is beautiful and I fed it (je l'ai nourrie) before and watched it until it became a beautiful swallowtail butterfly.
The crutches amused me when I saw them in the local Emmaüs.
Tomorrow I'm going to Paris again, so no entry for a week. When I come back I will have lots of superb photos again - I hope (je l'espère).

WINTER WHEAT - blé d'hiver
By carolweb on Sunday, November 7 2010,
The winter wheat is growing (pousse), green and tender, and a late butterfly was enjoying the warm sun in my garden.
But the weather forecast (le bulletin météo) says wind, rain and cold for next week! Back to winter temperatures, winter coats, scarves, gloves (manteaux, écharpes gants) and bonnets. I don't mind the cold (le froid m'est égal), in fact I prefer being cold than hot; especially for walking around in Paris. Here in the country, I don't walk around, I go by car and in the house I have central heating (chauffage centrale) and a open fireplace (une cheminée à bûches).

BIRTHDAY
By carolweb on Sunday, August 15 2010,
I'm pleased to announce the birth of my swallowtail butterfly.
I was watching closely a huge green and yellow CATERPILLAR on a fennel plant in my garden, when one day I found it racing up the terrace- amazing how fast a caterpillar can go! By experience (I've bred élevé) caterpillars before) I knew it was looking for a place to make its chrisalis. I picked it up (je l'ai ramassée) so nobody would tread on it (pour que personne ne lui marche dessus) and put it in a glass vase.
The day after it changed into a chrysalis and I waited for the magic to operate - because it's Nature's sheer magic that turns a big fat green and yellow caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly. Here it is just born.
I was so upset ( j'étais si vexée): I was sitting in the living room and this was happening in my kitchen, I could have been watching (j'aurais pu être en train de regarder).
I put it outside
just had the time to take a few (quelques) photos and it flew happily away (il s'est envolé heureux). It was so beautiful; how can such a beautiful insect come out of that little brown shell?
I have done something to save the planet today.
